On Our Radar Monique Péan Bracelets

—Matthew Schneier

Photos: Courtesy of Monique Péan

Talk about an heirloom—Monique Péan’s bracelets are made of fossilized woolly mammoth tusks that are 25,000 years old. Scarce materials like mammoth tusk make them pricey, but they also keep the jewelry on the ethical up-and-up, something that Péan, a CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund runner-up and Ecco Domani award winner, stresses in all her work. (She uses recycled gold and conflict- and- devastation-free diamonds in other pieces in her fine-jewelry line.) But aspirational or no, I love these chunky, etched bangles (and the idea, to be honest, of jewelry made from the fossilized remains of a critter that could have been a neighbor of Neanderthal man). I’m not the only one, either. Michelle Obama has been one of Péan’s biggest supporters; she recently wore these to greet President Obama on his 49th birthday earlier this week.
Monique Péan bracelets, $4,480 to $7,420, are available at Ikram, Jeffrey New York, and TwistOnline.com.

[Streetwalker] Street Style Gaga’s Little Monst

I took Fashionista’s street style camera along for the ride, focusing on Gaga’s exuberant and loyal fans. Wigs, lightning bolts, cigarette glasses, and a severe lack of pants were de rigueur for both boys and girls. And while some honored her with literal translations of past looks, others used her style as an inspiration to dress in…yellow tape.

Click through the slide show for a glimpse of the lengths to which people will go to show their admiration for Gaga. (OK, secretly I was wishing I, too had a pink wig.)

Lady Gaga is playing three nights at Madison Square Garden in New York City. And last night, I was there. No matter what you think of her music, her style, or her need for attention, she definitely inspires people.

I was a bit disappointed in Gaga’s costumes–no wigs or interesting millinery, just that yellow hair with three inch dark roots. But she’s an amazing performer and I’m both deaf and hoarse today from all the screaming and singing.

Exclusive Levi Johnston’s Ex He Didn’t – Paul Sm

VIDEO: Bristol Palin: How Levi proposed

She’s baffled how the story spread that he got her pregnant.

But, in an interview with UsMagazine.com, Garcia, 20, says: “Point blank, it’s not true at all. We haven’t hung out at all since 8th or 9th grade when we broke up. I don’t know where people are getting this. It’s not true at all. Levi is not the father of my baby.”

Earlier this month, Johnston and Palin, 18, exclusively revealed to Us Weekly that they are engaged.

“I mean,Paul Smith, it’s stupid,” she tells Us. “I’m nine months pregnant. If I wanted people to think that, I would have said something like that when I first found out. I would not say something like that now that I’m getting ready to have my baby. That doesn’t make sense.”

Garcia tells Us Johnston, now 20, was her first boyfriend. “I dated him for 2 1/2 years,” she says.

She tells Us she knows the baby’s father, and he’s “really mad” about the tabloid report. “He’s upset that this whole thing is going on,Ed hardy,” says Garcia. “It’s just dumb. We’re supposed to be getting ready and be excited, there’s no reason for this. Levi and I haven’t talked or hung out in years.”

“I wanted to talk to her, but I know she won’t talk to me,” Garcia says of Palin. “I wanted to tell her straight-up that it’s not true. If I could say anything to her, I would love to tell Bristol, that it’s not true and that I’m sorry she has had to even deal with all these lies.”

Bachelorette Ali May Not Find Anyone in th – New

PHOTOS: Meet the men vying for Ali’s heart

“I think my final two are a solid choice, and I think she really really likes them, but I usually hear a rumor of who’s going to win, and I haven’t heard anything,” continues Pappas, 28. “If she doesn’t find anyone in the end,New Era, she will not choose anyone. But if she does pick a final one, I think it will be Roberto.”

Fedotowsky, 25, hinted that she’s still single in an interview on Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS-FM radio show Monday.

VIDEO: Meet Ali’s wackiest suitor, Shooter

She laments having to dump somebody after a one-on-one date.

“It’s so awkward. Those one on one dates are awful because you’re put in this somewhat romantic situation,” Pappas says. “When her and Hunter were in the hot tub, he leaned in and she turned her face and he kissed her shoulder. I cringed! They have to go home if there’s absolutely no romantic chemistry. But you still have to sit there and hold the rose and explain why you’re not giving it to him and that’s heartbreaking.” (Hunter was sent home.)

Pappas warns Fedotowsky to be careful around Justin “Rated R,” whom she believes has a secret.

“Some people say he’s sweet and endearing and its nice that he cares about Ali so much — and then the other half of the people are like… he’s probably going to be the one on the season who’s like ‘Oh, I have a girlfriend,’” she says. “I am with that half of the people.”

Continues Pappas, “I think he’s got something up his sleeve and in the next couple of episodes, we’re going to learn a lot about him… he’s going to be a lot of trouble for Ali.”

Pappas says she gets why Fedotowsky swoons over Roberto.

“Right now Ali only has eyes for Roberto. He melts her heart every time she sees him,” Pappas says. “I can relate because on my season, my Roberto was Graham.  I literally only had eyes for him, and I think of that every time she looks at him. “

She thinks Fedotowsky kept Jonathan around because she felt bad for him.

“Each rose ceremony you have a couple guys where it’s like… its time for them to go. So what she probably did — and what I did — was you send home the guys that you are absolutely sure it’s not going to work,” she says. “Someone you did actually enjoy having around or at least enjoyed having a conversation with them,Juicy Couture shoes, you would keep them around another week.”

Former Bachelorette DeAnna Pappas thinks Ali Fedotowsky may not give anyone the final rose on the ABC show’s finale.

“Final two will be Roberto and Chris L. But I’m still a bit unsure if Ali even chooses one in the end,” Pappas — who split from fiance Jesse Csincsak, whom she found on Season 4, in November 2008– tells UsMagazine.com.

Discount Ed hardy Book about Liz Claiborne doesn’t

The couple shared a love of adventure and wanted to tour the globe and create memories together. Then Claiborne was diagnosed with cancer in 1997. Her fight to survive is a common thread throughout the book.

Readers can learn more about the woman, her career Juicy Couture tracksuits and how she influenced the fashion industry from a search of the Internet.

Despite Ortenberg’s obvious love and admiration for Claiborne, the book doesn’t live up to its powerful title. The writing jumps around in no real order, and it’s not a particularly interesting book.

She also revolutionized the way department stores arranged their fashion merchandise by making sure her clothes were grouped together in one section, rather than separated by categories. This showed how complete outfits could be put together.

"Liz Claiborne" includes great photographs that only an insider or family member could provide — and a sweet memory about her love of the color red. Ortenberg says his wife always had her nails painted red, and she was buried in a red urn.

"Liz Claiborne: The Legend, The Woman" (Taylor Trade Juicy Couture tracksuits Publishing, $24.95, 312 pages), by Art Ortenberg: "Liz Claiborne: The Legend, The Woman" looks at the fashion designer whose Liz Claiborne Inc. was the first company founded by a woman to be listed in the Fortune 500.

Written by Claiborne’s husband Art Ortenberg, "Liz Claiborne" begins with the designer’s death from cancer at age 78 in 2007, then jumps back to 1989, when the couple retired from the company’s day-to-day operations.

Claiborne designed coordinated outfits that were serious and stylish, but also affordable,Discount Ed hardy, for working women as they pioneered their way up corporate ladders in the 1970s and 1980s. The brand emphasized ensemble sportswear and quality while keeping the price tag moderate.

The book contains accounts of the times Claiborne and Juicy Couture tracksuits Ortenberg spent together after their retirement, including a trip to Kenya, as they worked to support environmental causes.
